Snow Day

1.5 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz espresso (or strong coffee)
1 oz Godiva Liqueur

.5 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
Add all ingredients in a shaker and shake with a generous amount of ice.

Pour into glass and enjoy!

Day 12 drink

 The Happy Holidays!

2oz Bourbon Whiskytes
.5oz Cointreau
.5oz Maraschino Liqueur
1.25oz fresh lemon juice
dash Angostura
Bitters
Shake with ice.
Strain into a cocktail glass (optional sugared rim).

Day 11 drink

 The Sleepless Christmas Eve
1.5oz Vodka
.25oz Kahlua
.25oz Grand Marnier (or other orange liqueur like Gran Gala)
Dash of orange bitters optional

Stir with ice and strain into cocktail glass, or double old fashioned glass filled with ice. Enjoy!

Bonus Kahlua drink! If you have a chocolate liqueur like the Godiva brand featured in the Overnight at Grandma’s, this drink is irresistible.

1oz Kahlua
1oz Vodka

1oz Godiva Chocolate liqueur

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Enjoy.

Day 10 drink

 Daddy’s Home! V1

1.25oz rye whiskey (I used Jim Beam)
.5oz grenadine
.5oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1oz apricot nectar (I used Looza brand)
Dash of orange bitters

Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with a generous amount of ice. Shake for 10-20 seconds and pour into glass. !

Bonus drink of the day!
the original Scofflaw cocktail
1.25 rye whiskey
.75oz dry vermouth
.5oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
.5oz grenadine
Dash of orange bitters

Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with a generous amount of ice. Shake for 10-20 seconds and pour into glass.

Day 9 drink

1-2-3 Time Out

1.5-2oz Apricot nectar (I use Looza brand)
.25 teaspoon lemon juice
.25 teaspoon grenadine
Dash of orange bitters (Angostura brand)
Prosecco or champagne

Mix all ingredients except Prosecco in champagne flute. Carefully add Prosecco.

Bonus Prosecco drink! If you happened to make the grenadine we posted a few days ago, you can make a great drink by simply pouring a shot (1.5oz) of it into a champagne flute and adding Prosecco. Tastes great and super simple. Add a small amount of lemon juice if you want it less sweet.

Day 8 drink

The Security Blanket
8 raspberries
2oz Dark Rum (I used Brugel Dominican)
.5oz Grand Marnier (or a similar liquor like Bol’s Curacao)
.25oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice
.5oz sugar syrup

Muddle raspberries in shaker (I used a wooden spoon — just get them all mushed up). Add remaining ingredients and shake with a generous amount of ice. Pour into glass and enjoy!

Day 7 drink

 The Ferberizer
1.5 - 2 oz Gin
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Sparkling Cranberry Juice

Add gin to a tall glass filled with ice cubes (lots of ‘em, not just one or two), add the lemon juice and fill with the sparkling cranberry juice.

A cocktail should be consumed quickly, “while it’s still laughing at you.”
Harry Craddock, famous cocktail barman from the 1920-30s.

Day 6 drink Gift Overload Meltdown
2 egg yolks
.25oz cream
.5oz sugar syrup
.75oz tawny port
1.5oz bourbon whiskey
3.5oz milk
nutmeg

Shake well over ice cubes in a shaker and strain into a glass (or a Santa mug). Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Need sugar syrup for this recipe? Super easy to make.
Some recipes indicate that you boil water to make the sugar dissolve. Not necessary. Just take 2 cups of hot water and 2 cups of superfine sugar and mix. The sugar will dissolve and you’re done. Pour into a bottle, add about a shot of vodka (an anecdotal way to preserve the syrup) and store in the fridge.

Day 5 drink Mommy’s Colic Relieve

.75oz Amaretto
.5oz fresh-squeezed orange juice
.5oz lemon juice
.75oz vodka

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Enjoy.

Bonus Amaretto drink! Like the flavor of Amaretto by itself but want a drink that’s less sweet? This is a good solution.

The Italian Nanny
1.5oz Amaretto
1.5oz vodka

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Pour into a double old fashioned glass filled with ice.

Kraken The Play date V3 2oz The Kraken Rum
Cola

Add rum to a double old fashioned glass full of ice (really full, not just a couple cubes). Fill with cola. No lime with this one — it doesn’t work as well with this rum.

Day 3 drink

Mom, Look!

1oz Grand Marnier
1oz Vanilla Stoli
2oz Fresh squeezed orange juice
.25oz fresh squeezed lemon juice

Stir all ingredients with ice in a large glass. At this point, you’ve got two choices.

1) Want a solidly strong and tasty cocktail? You’re done — pour this into a double old fashioned glass filled with ice (my recommendation).

2) After something a bit lighter? Pour this into a tall glass filled with ice and top off with club soda (Ms. Suburban Bliss’s preference).

Day 2

Peppermint Overnight at Grandma’s

We had some friends over last night to put a stamp of approval this recipe. All agreed that the balance of peppermint and chocolate was right. You can vary the amount of peppermint schnapps to suit your taste.

2oz Godiva Chocolate liqueur
2oz vodka
1oz peppermint schnapps

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

Hazelnut Overnight at Grandma’s

Seems like the poor Francelico monk bottle gets passed by in the booze aisle more often than not. It's not a liqueur that gets a lot of attention.  I think folks might not know what to do with it, but it has a really good flavor (half vodka, half Frangelico on ice is delicious). I'm a fan of hazelnut coffee -- if you are too, you might really like this chocolate hazelnut drink.

1.5oz Frangelico
1.5oz Godiva Chocolate liqueur
1.5oz vodka

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

7pm bedtime

The 7 O'Clock Bedtime

You might compare this drink to a cosmopolitan... The grenadine's pomegranate flavor is a good alternative to the cranberry in a cosmo.

If you don't typically use freshly squeezed juice in cocktails, try it with this one and see what you think. The fresh flavor and aroma really make a big difference.

(If you like a more subtle vodka cocktail go with 1/4oz of grenadine and lemon juice. If you want a cocktail with more flavor go with 1/2oz of each.)

1/4 to 1/2oz grenadine
1/4 to 1/2oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
2oz vodka

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker (with this drink, I use a lot of ice and shake it for a while -- 10 seconds will do -- so there'll be ice crystals in the drink). This drink also works on the rocks.
